Because of its portability, I draw most of my illustrations digitally these days, but there's still something special about sketching with paper and pencil. I'm not sure what it is about sketching on a disposable piece of printer paper, but it gives me the freedom to scribble and push the design of the character. Maybe it is the fact that I can draw, scribble, edit, and throw it away, if need be, without any loss. Once I like a sketch, I can easily use the camera on my iPad to insert it into my drawing layers, just as if I'd drawn the sketch digitally. It gives me the same building block beneath my paints.
