I love to make art, and I love God's Word! How about you? Do you like to draw your own art in your Bible journaling time, or do you like to use stickers and ephemera to journal? I've recently branched out from Sherry's Cabin and opened a new Etsy shop dedicated to digital downloads for Bible journaling and spending time with God. I'm always excited to draw and paint, but I want even my fun to glorify God. Sometimes the fear of messing up your Bible stops you from adding words and images. Why not add stickers and colors? The goal is to spend time with God! I want to give others who might not otherwise journal in their Bibles an opportunity to meditate on God's Word and enjoy some creative time! Visit my Etsy Shop and grab a set of stickers. Be sure to enter the discount code: BLOGREADER10 for 10% off. Are there specific scriptures you'd like to have journaling page kits for? I’m having fun creating a new Skillshare class on Bible journaling. I thought I would share a little bit of the process. In this video, I’m using watercolor crayons to paint the background of a tip-in page. If you are new to Bible journaling, you may find it hard at first. Not the fact you're spending time in God's word, but the fact that you can't just rip out the page and start over if you make a mistake. It's ok! You don't have to create intricate designs or spend hours painstakingly creating a page. Even fifteen minutes makes a difference. Creating is good for the soul, and spending time focused on scripture is even better! Start with something easy. I love the fact I have a Shepherd. Psalm 100:3 reminds me who I belong to. In just fifteen minutes you can add some white acrylic paint to a couple of fluffy sheep, add the head, feet, outline, and text with permanent black ink, and dab on some watercolors. I used watercolor crayons on this one. If you read my last post about perfection being over-rated and took it to heart, it will give you the freedom to work in your Bible without fear of messing it up.
Need a little help getting started? Whether you are Bible journaling or joining the ladies of the Book & Brush Club to art journal about the latest mystery you're reading, here are a few tips for creating backgrounds! Join me in creating a cute girl with scripture! |
